Leona Vingativa, a prominent trans influencer from northern Brazil, is reimagined as Botticelli’s Venus in a reinterpretation that merges Amazonian imagery with elements of the rainforest. This adaptation of “The Birth of Venus” celebrates her beauty and strength while honoring her Amazonian roots, featuring symbols like herons, water lilies, and igarapés (Amazonian waterways). By placing a Black trans woman from the Amazon as the central figure, the work challenges traditional Eurocentric beauty standards and art, embracing diversity and representation in a powerful new way.
